At Edmonton's Happy Hound Play Park, we know what it takes to make an amazing day for your dog, whether they love friends, need help building confidence, or don't do well with others.
We follow the Three Components of Care model, which doesn't just focus on activity time, but also includes planning and support for non-activity time and rest time.
We offer dog daycare and dog boarding for:
We meet your dog's emotional, psychological, physical and relational needs to promote their wellbeing and support your relationship with them. We have designed our facility and programs in-keeping with Fear Free principles.
We are exceptionally proud of the program we have designed in-keeping with Fear Free principles of care for dogs. We understand not only what each dog needs, but also how to use the Three Components of Care plus consistency and connection to build each dog's confidence and give them their best day.
Where we particularly differ from traditional dog daycare models is the work we do with the dogs in our care to reinforce and practice settling and resting outside of activity time.
This trainer support is included our daycare and boarding programs.
For dogs who are comfortable and confident with others.
For dogs who are nervous or fearful around others or in new situations. We offer a safe place for your dog to build relationships with us and grow in confidence with others.
For dogs who become hyper-aroused or overstimulated and don't thrive in a social daycare setting.
An ideal way to help your adolescent or adult dog hone obedience cues and responses or other challenges that you're working on at home.
Help your puppy have a solid foundation both socially and for future training.
You don't need to know which daycare option is best for your pup; we'll assess your pup at a meet and greet and make a recommendation.
We practice a rest and enrichment model of daycare to help dogs have the best play experience possible.
Rest ensures we positively manage hyperarousal and keep play at an engaging and safe level without depleting your dog's social battery.
We have play groups of 10 - 15 dogs to allow your dog to truly play and find friends they really enjoy without becoming overwhelmed or overcrowded.
Our attendants are hands-on in each play group for the best safety and experience for your dog.
We support your dog’s
ability to be awake but relaxed, so they get
the reprieve from play they need to rest, charge
their social battery, and get ready for an
additional round of activity.
We have three positive-reinforcement trainers overseeing our daycare program and leading training and enrichment activities.
Our trainers are hands-on with the dogs in our daycare programs every day, so you get the best insights and understanding of how your dog's daycare program is supporting your goals for your dog.
We plan our play groups by:
Dogs play with others their own size and energy level. Whether big or little, dogs enjoy the fun and safety of play partners who match them.
Our daily email updates give you important information into your dog's day.
Each day, we'll send you a detailed email update informing you of:
On average, dogs spend about 50% of each day sleeping, 30% awake but relaxing, and just 20% being active.
For daycare, this means our responsibility is to ensure we support positive experiences and create opportunity for both awake but relaxing times and active times.
This is why we practice a very intentional model of rotating rest and relaxation that considers where each dog is on the social comfort spectrum with their need for a balance of sleep, relaxation and activity.
To experience for your dog during their day, we:
To help dogs disengage from each play time and recharge for another, we not only incorporate rest breaks throughout the day, but also work with the dogs in our care to positively reinforce being in a calm relaxed state during rest.
Our goal is to support your dog's overall psychological wellbeing and health, and actively looking out for this essential part of a dog's day is an important part of achieving this.
Support settle sessions are included in the cost of daycare and boarding. If we believe your dog would benefit from additional scheduled sessions with our trainer, we will let you know.
Less essential for our daycare guests, since they sleep at home with you, but still essential for us to incorporate into our programs is support for a good and proper sleep environment.
Some dogs during daycare breaks do sleep as their required and necessary way to recharge.
We have private spaces for each dog or sibling set so dogs can nap without worry of their personal space being encroached upon.

We accept dogs of all sizes. We have separate areas for our little dogs and larger dogs.
We offer discounts on packages for multiple dogs.
We do! We accept puppies after their second set of vaccinations. Puppies must have been in your home for at least one week and be 12 weeks of age.
We do accept intact dogs over 8 months old. Their play program, whether social group or personal play will be determined by their behaviour in social group and the other dogs' responses. If a dog isn't thriving in social group, our personal play program is ideal.
All dogs in our daycare program play naked! Naked play is the safest play for dogs.
We are unable to accept dogs in heat for boarding. If your dog begins their heat while with us, they will be required to be picked up.
