At the Happy Hound Play Park, we know what it takes to make an amazing stay. Our sleepover stays support your dog's wellbeing throughout the day and night. Whether you need short- or long-term overnight boarding care, our programs support your dog's wellbeing and offer you the peace of mind you deserve.
Our facility and programs are designed in-keeping with Fear Fear principles to ensure your dog's experience not only meets their needs, but also provides benefit within the most positive environment possible.
We offer dog boarding for:
During the day, your dog participates in one of our daycare programs, and for night we have several sleep kennel styles and sleep areas.
Each guest has a private space for sleeping and for meals, and siblings can share sleep spaces (based on availability).
Small numbers both in play group and overnight means very personalized care in the most stress-free environment possible.
Our play groups have 15 or fewer dogs and an attendant in the group so your dog can truly settle in and play in safety.
24/7 In-Person Supervision ensures we know how your dog is doing during all times of their stay.
We have large private sleep and eating spaces for all our guests in 16 sq ft, 24 sq ft or 32 sq ft kennels that are 6 ft tall and fully enclosed for safety. We also have standard crates available for dogs who prefer smaller sleep spaces.
Our sleep spaces are separate from our play spaces, and we have several sleep areas that allow us to find the best space for your dog's comfort.
We have a well-thought-out enrichment program that includes food enrichment, activity enrichment and training enrichment.
We can accommodate dietary limitations and can suggest enrichment activities or other enrichment that may benefit your dog.
Our daily email update gives you valuable information about your dog's stay, including:
For boarding, a dog's ability to rest well and calmly makes all the difference.
To help your dog with this, we spend time during each rest period actively engaging with and supporting your dog in learning and practicing awake relaxation.
We keep you informed of how your dog is doing and have additional trainer support available to ensure your dog is thriving in all aspects of their stay.
Day supervision:
We have educated and experienced specialists hands-on engaging and supervising each play group.
Overnight supervision
You can rest easy knowing your pup is being watched and cared for in-person 24/7.
Sleep monitoring: Our overnight specialist compiles a sleep log overnight so we know how your pup is doing and sleeping.
Food tracking: Nutrition is so important. We track food consumption every day as well. If we note your dog has a decreased appetite or isn't eating, we will notify you.
Your dog will enjoy large indoor/outdoor parks, bright natural light, and separate play areas for little dogs and larger dogs.
We have loads of fun additional enrichment options including splash play, ball pit play, agility, training sessions, one-on-one cuddles and brushes or sniffaris.
Your dog participates in the daycare program that matches their social comfort and interest.
We offer social boarding, confidence-building boarding and personal play boarding.
Each dog is assigned a private sleep space, ranging from home-style crates to 16 sq ft, 24 sq ft or 32 sq ft kennels. Sleep spaces are separate from the play spaces for best rest.
Each day your dog is with us, we'll send you an email update of how they're doing! We post photos every day to our Facebook and Instagram as well, but you can also add on an emailed photo to your daily update.
On average, dogs spend about 50% of each day sleeping, 30% awake but relaxing, and just 20% being active.
Our responsibility is to ensure we support positive experiences and create opportunity and support good sleep, positive awake but relaxing times and enriching active times.
The importance of regulated activity
Our activity programs provide very personalized play groups and programs that match where your dog falls along the social comfort spectrum, whether they enjoy other dogs or not.
We have a trained attendant in each play group building personal relationships and learning your dog’s unique personality and play style.
Being invested and involved in your dog’s activity means this essential component of care is an entirely positive experience, provides the most value for your dog.
The importance of relaxed wakefulness
Dogs need time away from the social-battery-depleting experience of social groups; without it, many dogs become overstimulated and begin to make unsafe play choices. Others withdraw and must actively use their body language to ask to be left alone.
Our responsibility is to safely create and manage social experiences while supporting your dog’s ability to be awake but relaxed and offering the reprieve they need to rest and re-charge.
Our goals are to provide your dog with the best experience possible and to transform their overall ability to engage with their environment and regulate their responses to experiences.
The importance of good sleep
Good sleep is important during your dog’s regular life, but is even more important when your dog is away from home in a different environment with different dogs and different people.
A night of no sleep or a poor sleep impacts a dog’s threshold for social time and overall impacts their wellbeing.
To support good sleep, we have an attendant in the building overnight who can modify where your dog sleeps and help them achieve a calm state so they can recharge for another day.
We also have large private spaces for each dog so they can sleep without needing to be aware of open area surroundings or of being bumped or approached by another dog.
We have a great boarding prep program to assist you and your dog. Whether your dog has never boarded before or has had unfortunate boarding experiences in past, we have supports and options in place to provide you with peace of mind and your dog with the experience you want for them.
Please reach us at info@thehappyhoundplaypark.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We do! We accept puppies for boarding who are over 12 weeks old. Puppies must have completed two series of Distemper-combination vaccine.
We accept intact dogs for boarding. Intact dogs over 8 months must attend daycare regularly with us (at least once a week) so we are familiar with their play program and are suited for our social daycare or CLASS daycare. For intact dogs new to us, we may refer them to our Personal Play boarding option to begin, with adjustment to Social or CLASS possible once we are familiar with them.
No, we do not. A price is a price for our service, regardless of peak demand.
We are not an open-sleep concept (meaning all dogs stay out loose all day and all night), and do have large private sleep kennels for our guests.
